Exoskeleton

This specimen is a cricket I saw at the local Petco on Wilshire Boulevard. Crickets have an exoskeleton that is made of chitin that protects its organs and prevents loss of moisture which is shed and replaced when it grows. The exoskeleton is the rigid external structure that provides support and protection for the body of some invertebrate animals.
